Let’s Katniss these Misquitoes

So I’m sure you’ve heard of the new hype, The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. From personal experience, the book is great! Collins does a great job of creating a gender neutral novel about a colony of people objected to an over-powering Capitol. With the movie finally out, more and more people are starting to read this exciting novel. If you haven’t yet gotten your hands on this trilogy, it would be a great summer read.

Speaking of summer…I don’t know about you but I am a little scared for what’s to come here by April. With the temperatures already hitting the high 80s, what will our summer be like? The factor that scares me the most…are the bugs. Because we didn’t have a “real winter,” none of the pestering insects were killed off. That means mosquitoes GALORE.

So what will I most likely be doing this summer? Probably rereading the Hunger Games trilogy while either in the comfort of my AC or sitting by the pool.

Weather Predictions for Oklahoma

Keep Calm and Spring Break On

Its the month of March which means it’s Spring Break season. This also means that here on campus the gym is packed and there is at least a 30 minute wait for a tanning bed.

This year, my friends and I decided we didn’t want to fight those crowds so we are heading West this year. Instead of hitting the beach with the rest of Stillwater, Okla., we are hitting the slopes. We figure pretty much 70 percent of the Greek community travels down to Destin for their Spring Break. So why would we hang out with all the same people just in a new location? These people also stress out about their “beach bod” and tan for 1/2 the semester, which doesn’t sound like much fun. So about six of my closest friends and I are heading to the breath taking mountains of Colorado. We decided we wanted to shake things up for a change and go skiing instead of normal “sit on the beach and do nothing spring break.”

Skiing should be interesting this year and I can’t wait to compare stories with those who chose Destin.
